The Rise of the Resolv Protocol: The Next Stablecoin Giant?

Recently, the stablecoin market has welcomed new development opportunities. According to reports, a well-known stablecoin issuer is expected to achieve a net profit of over $10 billion by the end of this year. Such substantial profits have attracted a lot of attention, and many banks around the world are also looking to enter the stablecoin market. Currently, the total locked value of stablecoins ( TVL ) has increased from $130 billion at the beginning of the year to $200 billion.

In this context, a new emerging protocol called Resolv has attracted market attention. On December 6, the founder of Ethena mentioned the Resolv protocol, after which the TVL of Resolv began to grow rapidly, increasing by nearly 400% in the past two weeks, reaching $333 million. So, what exactly is Resolv? How can its tokens be obtained? Before the upcoming token issuance, let's take a closer look at the participation opportunities in Resolv.

Introduction to Resolv Protocol

Resolv is a stablecoin protocol based on Delta neutral strategies, with its core centered around the tokenization of market-neutral investment portfolios. The Delta neutral strategy aims to minimize the risks brought by price fluctuations of the underlying assets. In a Delta neutral portfolio, investors balance risk by combining multiple positions that offset each other's price movements, primarily utilizing financial derivatives like options or perpetual contracts ( to achieve this.

This is similar to some similar protocols, which mainly obtain stable income through the funding rates of short positions, while a small portion of the profits comes from re-staking and other interest-bearing assets. The profits of Resolv's funding pool are divided into three parts and distributed every 24 hours:

  1. Basic rewards: Distribute to the holders of stUSR) and RLP.
  2. Risk premium: Only for RLP holders
  3. Protocol fees: Transfer to the protocol treasury

The Resolv ecosystem includes three types of tokens: in addition to the project's governance token RESOLV, there are also two functional tokens, USR and RLP.

  • USR: A stablecoin fully backed by ETH collateral, pegged to the value of 1 USD. Users can mint and redeem liquid collateral on a 1:1 basis and earn rewards by staking USR.
  • RLP: An extensible insurance layer designed to protect USR from market risks. The value of RLP fluctuates based on the protocol's profit and loss dynamics. In return, RLP holders receive a higher proportion of profits from the collateral pool, but also bear greater risks.

Through this design, Resolv effectively distinguishes between investors with different risk preferences.

Currently, Resolv's fund distribution is transparent and traceable. About 61.5% of the funds are on-chain, 27.2% are managed by neutral institutions, and 10.5% are held in a certain emerging exchange. In the future, Resolv plans to launch a new trading system, expected to become a major stablecoin project on that system.

Please do not blindly chase the price; a big pump in TVL must come with risks. It is recommended to observe calmly for three months.
