PANews, August 12 - According to the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. and law enforcement agencies from multiple countries took joint action on July 24 to seize four servers, nine domain names, and about $1 million in Bitcoin assets related to a Russian ransomware gang. The operation targeted BlackSuit and Royal ransomware, with the gang having extorted over $500 million since 2022 and having illegally profited at least $370 million. The frozen Bitcoin assets partially stem from a $1.45 million ransom paid by victims in April 2023. U.S. officials stated that this move constitutes a significant blow to the gang's operations, and further investigations are ongoing, which may lead to more charges.
