AMD and OpenAI jointly released a super powerful AI chip, with inference improved by 35 times.
Golden Ten Data, June 13, in the early hours of this morning, AMD held the 2025 Global AI Development Conference, which mainly released and introduced the latest AI chips and cloud basic hardware equipment. Sam Altman, co-founder and CEO of OpenAI, attended the conference as a special guest and jointly released the Instinct MI400 and Instinct MI350 series of super AI chips with ADM. Especially during the R&D process, OpenAI has been providing technical feedback to AMD to help it optimize its GPUs. At the press conference, Sam Altman was also stunned when he heard that a single MI400 was equipped with 432GB of HBM4 memory, and shouted that it was impossible. Compared to the previous generation, the MI350 is equipped with 288GB of HBM3E memory and up to 8TB/s of memory bandwidth, which improves AI computing power by 4x and inference performance by 35x. AMD says that because the chip's power consumption is lower than that of its competitors, the MI355X offers 40% more tokens per dollar than Nvidia's chips.
